Decreasing Health Regulations and Safeguards

Many of us in the public have a negative response or suspicion of government regulations affecting healthcare. There have been cuts in staffing and funding for agencies that oversee health regulations and testing. As a result the public is at increased risk. When looking at the effects of decreased staff and regulations it takes a number of years for the results to be evident.. As a former hospital administrator and Director of Nursing, I’m dismayed to see that health guidelines and regulations put into effect over many years to safeguard the public have been reduced or put into question without regard to proof or evidence. In the short period of a few years some alarming trends have been identified. As reported, the employment at the Food and Drug Administration fell 22% compared to 2024. The disturbing trend to reduce safeguards includes:

  • Lower vaccination rates

  • Increased rates of diseases rarely seen in the past decade, e.g. measles highest cases since 1991

  • Stalled research on new advances

  • Public uncertainty on healthcare decisions

I urge the public to carefully consider the recent diminished healthcare care guidelines which were originally put in place for public safety. We all need to read thoughtfully and consider the source of healthcare information and put increased reliance on scientific study, reliable sources of information and advice from professional healthcare providers.
